Welcome to R-tree Portal !
Since 1984 when Antonin Guttman proposed his method as an extension of the 'ubiquitous' B-tree in multi-dimensional space, R-trees have grown everywhere; from CAD and geographical databases to multimedia and time series management systems. During these years, researchers and practitioners have been reading papers on R-trees and variations, implementing and testing R-tree code, collecting and using relevant datasets for their experimentation. To facilitate their research, this site aims to provide a portal for the 'almost ubiquitous' R-tree indexing structure and related material.
In particular, the R-tree-Portal includes:
- Source code of R-trees and variations (low- vs. high- dimensional space, spatio-temporal extensions etc.)
- A collection of real datasets widely used for experimentation purposes
- Software for data generators to build your own datasets
Also
- a list of publications related to the R-tree
- links to vendors' sites employing the R-tree
- acknowledgements to people who have contributed to this portal and
- a calendar of R-tree research related events.
I hope you will enjoy it! Yannis Theodoridis, Information Systems Lab. , University of Piraeus R-tree-portal citation example: bibtex entry
